Economists debate banking regulation at the University of Greenwich
Two distinguished speakers from the world of finance will be sharing their insights into the subject of banking regulation, in two talks at the University of Greenwich on Wednesday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 18.
John Kay, a distinguished academic, acclaimed columnist with the Financial Times and an inventive economist, will discuss the case for banking reform, including the feasibility of separating retail and investment banking operations.
He will also investigate why banking reform is necessary, draw on the lessons learned from the recent crisis and give his own insights into how the financial system operates.
The following week Professor Charles Goodhart, a member of the Financial Markets Group at the London School of Economics, will argue that central banks should be equipped appropriately for achieving financial stability. He will relate his analysis to the lessons learned during the recent financial crisis and the regulatory debate in Europe and the United States.
This talk takes place on Tuesday, May 18. Both talks will run from 6.30pm to 8pm at the University of Greenwich in Room 180, Queen Anne Court, Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, SE10 9LS.
There will be networking opportunities and refreshments available at the end of both events.
