We specialise in the application of software engineering and artificial intelligence techniques to industrial and commercial problems. Attracting substantial funding from the EU and UK government departments and agencies, we are currently involved in substantial industrial collaborations funded by the DTI.
A recognised leader in our field, we have been involved in a diverse range of major projects in such areas as Expert Systems, Genetic Algorithms, Case-Based Reasoning, Knowledge Management, Data Mining Middleware and Autonomic Computing

The Computer Research Group
This group co-ordinates our research activities across the university. As well as teams focusing on new areas of research and application in Software Engineering, Mobile Computing, Networking and Computer Security, we have the following core research groups:
